Pétanque
Pétanque can be played during the cafe opening hours and patrons of the cafe can request the boules from a member of the cafe staff. A cash deposit is required for the use of the boules during busy periods when access to the piste will be restricted to players only.
Our ‘piste’ or court, named The Broch Bouledrome, is of International size (15m x 4m) and was constructed early in 2017 after redesigning our front patio area.
Pétanque is a form of boules where the goal is to toss or roll hollow steel balls as close to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet or jack while standing in a circle with both feet on the ground. Each end is scored individually and first player or team to 13 wins the game. Pétanque rules are available however we prefer a more casual approach to the game with a minimum of rules.
